Pano Warp - v3.0
 2006 Martin Vicanek.
Release date:
Updated: -

DESCRIPTION:

This filter performs various pixel transformations associated with panorama stitching. It can be used to prepare single frames for a panorama, or to post-process a panorama image e.g. to correct a curved horizon.

INSTALLATION:

Simply unzip "panowarp.zip" and copy "panowarp.8bf" to your "\Photoshop\Plug-Ins\" folder, or whichever plugin folder your host program uses. Load your program, open an image, go to the plugins menu and select the plugin.

USAGE:

Image preview area:
Left-click to set the horizon.
Right-click and drag to move the image.

Zoom control:
Use + and - to zoom in and out.

100%:
Press to show actual pixel resolution.

Fit:
Press to scale the image so it will fit entirely in the preview area.

"Correct" Section
-----------------
This group of controls helps correcting lens distortions.

De-Barrel::
Slider to compensate barrel distortion, an unwanted effect caused by many camera lenses.

De-Vignette:
Slider to compensate vignetting, the brightness falloff at image corners.

"Warp" Section
--------------
This is where you specify the actual warping.

Source Cylinder Perspective:
Tick if the source image is in cylinder perspective. This is appropriate e.g. for post-processing stitched images. Leave unticked for ordinary planar perspective, e.g. for pre-processing single frames taken from the camera.

Target Cylinder Perspective:
Tick to specify cylinder perspective for output, e.g. for preprocessing images for a cylindric panorama. Leave unticked if you want the output in planar perspective. The latter may be preferred e.g. for buildings where straight lines should remain straight.

Reference Grid:
Tick to display a rectangular grid on the output image. This may be helpful for alignment.

Warped Grid:
Tick to display a rectangular grid on the input image. The grid will be warped along with the input image. Tick again to see only the grid without the input image.

Focal Length:
Set the focal length in mm, assuming the short side of the input image to be 24mm.

Roll:
Use this slider to rotate the image.

Horizon:
Set the horizon. A value of 0 will place the horizon in the center of the image, a value of -100% (+100%) will place it at the bottom (top) of the image. The horizon will remain a straight line even after warping.

View Horizon:
Tick to display the horizon by a red line.

"Position" Section
------------------
With these controls you can position the warped image.

Shift x/y:
Adjust horizontal/vertical position.

Zoom:
Enlarge or reduce the output image to fit in the canvas.

General Controls
----------------

Load/Save 1,2,3,4,5:
Save current settings or load previously stored settings. You can work with up to 5 different parameter sets in parallel.

Cancel:
Exit the plugin without applying any effect.

OK:
Apply red eye corrections and exit the plugin.

Reset All:
Reset all controls.
